A'ja Wilson and Tina Charles Shine in Dominant Weeks

In a week filled with impressive performances, two stars stood out in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA): A'ja Wilson and Tina Charles.

A'ja Wilson, the Western Conference Player of the Week, continued her dominant season, leading the Las Vegas Aces to a perfect 3-0 record. The forward averaged an astonishing 29.0 points on 53.2% shooting, 12.7 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, 2.0 assists, and 1.3 steals. This stellar performance not only helped Wilson tie Candace Parker for second all-time in Player of the Week honours with 27, but also made her the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 5,500 career points.

In a game against Atlanta, Wilson scored 32 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, recorded 5 blocks, and dished out 4 assists. She also recorded her 117th career double-double in a game against Phoenix. Wilson currently leads the league in total points (789), total rebounds (346), blocks per game (2.2), and player efficiency rating (32.3) through Aug. 25.

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Conference, Tina Charles was named Player of the Week. Charles helped the Connecticut Sun to a perfect 3-0 week, averaging 19.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.0 steals. The forward also made history by achieving her 200th career double-double in a game against the Chicago Sky on Aug. 24. Charles, who has earned Player of the Week honours with three different franchises (Connecticut, New York, and Washington), is the only player in WNBA history to achieve 200 double-doubles.

Charles' latest award is her 33rd career Player of the Week honour, breaking the league record she previously shared with Candace Parker. The Sun currently hold a record of 24-12 and will play the Dallas Wings in a road matchup on Wednesday.

As for the Las Vegas Aces, they have now won 11 consecutive games heading into Wednesday's contest against the Atlanta Dream. The Aces' impressive run, along with Wilson's stellar play, has solidified their position as a force to be reckoned with in the WNBA.

On a separate note, Caitlin Clark's Nike signature logo and shoe are scheduled to be released in 2026. Clark, a promising young player, is expected to make a significant impact in the league in the coming years.

Diana Taurasi holds the WNBA record for the most games with at least 30 points scored. However, the focus this week was on Wilson and Charles, who showcased their extraordinary skills and contributed significantly to their team's success.
